Pastor Holland Davis (P.HD) is a pastor/teacher, a worship leader, singer/songwriter, speaker, author and has served in ministry for over 50 years. He is the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel San Clemente in South OC.

Holland spent his life growing up in different parts of the world because his dad was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  He’s lived on both coasts, grew up in a trailer in Beaufort, South Carolina, lived in Elk City, Oklahoma, Salt Lake City, Utah, Quantico, Virgina and Vista, California.  Jesus made Himself known to Holland at a Young Life meeting in Iwakuni, Japan.  He heard the audible voice of Jesus say “Holland I love you” and that changed his life forever.  He was told by the Young Life leadership that he had become born again and was instructed to read the Bible and pray and God would teach him.  So, Holland began reading the Bible and praying.  However, no one told him that he needed to go to church.  It wasn’t until his family moved back to the United States that he heard from a friend that you’re supposed to go to church and when he did, he was told that the things he read in the Bible weren’t true for today.  This left him confused.  Why would the church tell everyone they needed to read the Bible if it wasn’t 100% true for today?  At the age of 16, Holland heard a Pastor on the radio say that the Bible was 100% God’s Word and that it was 100% true for today.  That Pastor was Chuck Smith.  Shortly after, Holland began to pursue ministry as his passion and became the first worship leader and youth pastor at Calvary Chapel Vista at the age of 16.  This passion for ministry was heightened after Lonnie Frisbee prayed for Holland to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of 17 and Holland experienced the raw power of God.

As a young man, Holland and his wife Roxie helped plant several churches in the Southern California and Riverside area.  During this time, Holland began writing worship songs for the local churches he was involved with.  He also started teaching and leading worship at conferences around the nation as a recording artist for Rolltop Music.  At a Night of Worship hosted by Foothills Christian Church in Santee, Andrea Tucker from Maranatha! Music “discovered” Holland.  This led to the fulfillment of a personal dream to work for Maranatha! Music where his multi-platinum selling song “Let It Rise” was recorded by Paul Baloche. Holland has written and co-written over 150 songs that are currently tracked by C.C.L.I. and are sung in churches around the world. His most popular songs include: Let It Rise, I Will Stand, Who Is Like The Lord, I Surrender, Healing Word, and More Of You. Holland has recorded worship music albums and singles for Maranatha! Music, Word Music, Rolltop Music, Vineyard Music, Worshipsong, Inc. and Calvary Chapel Music and is currently a published writer with Capitol Christian Music Group.  His songs continue to be in the top 500 songs sung by churches in the United States as reported by CCLI. 

Holland Davis’ songs have been recorded by such artists as – Lenny LeBlanc, Paul Baloche, Big Daddy Weave, Mia Koehne, Promise Keepers, Brent Helming, Tyrone Wells, LeAnne Albrecht and countless others.  He has had the privilege of leading worship with such Christian leaders as: Chuck Smith, David Rosales, Mike MacIntosh, Skip Heitzig, Don McClure, Sheila Walsh, Dennis Rainey, Franklin Graham, Jon Courson, Miles McPherson, Jerry Falwell and Raul Ries. Holland has held worship concerts and music ministry outreaches in the UK, Germany, Mexico and across the United States. 

During a trip to Israel, Pastor Holland once again began to sense God’s leading to return to ministry.  This eventually led him to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa where he led worship for Pastor Chuck Smith, founded the School of Worship, founded Worship Life Conferences and relaunched Calvary Chapel Music.  It was at this time that Worshipsong.com, an alternative distribution system for independent worship artists, was formed.  Worshipsong.com and it’s award winning multi-track band app continue to pioneer ways for independent worship artists to distribute their songs to the church.  Following his success at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, Holland joined Pastor Skip Heitzig at Ocean Hills Church in San Juan Capistrano.  After two years, Pastor Skip returned to the church he founded in Albuquerque and left Pastor Holland with the charge to be a stabilizing factor during a long and difficult transition.

In 2009, God began to reveal it was time to fulfill a prophetic word given to He and his wife Roxie in 1993. Through several other prophetic words (including Bill Stonebreaker, CC Honolulu) and the agreement of his wife, God made it clear that it was time for Pastor Holland to plant a new Calvary Chapel work in San Clemente.  With Pastor Chuck Smith’s blessing, Pastor Holland launched Calvary Chapel San Clemente with a small but dedicated team of church planters on February 14, 2010.  The church is now established and growing.  You can join Calvary Chapel San Clemente LIVE online, via their RADIO program Worship Life Radio, LIVE 10:30 Sunday AM on the Calvary Radio Network or their television program Worship Life Today.  Pastor Holland is also a featured guest on Biblical Insights, a weekly call in program on the Calvary Radio Network.

The heart of Pastor Holland’s message is the radical grace of God and how to approach living from God’s “life giving” perspective as presented in God’s Word.  To say it simply… it’s the power of God’s Word in the Power of the Spirit.  Pastor Holland’s teaching ministry is described as fresh, deep, thoughtful and insightful.  People who have walked with Jesus for many years are learning and new believers easily understand the Bible as Pastor Holland teaches the Bible expositorily, line upon line, precept upon precept. Pastor Holland and his wife Roxie also understand the pain that families experience who have loved ones that struggle with mental illness and homelessness.  As a teaching pastor and worship leader, his passion is to help people experience the real Presence of Jesus through the grace filled preaching of God’s Word.  The mission of Calvary Chapel San Clemente is to know God through His Word, love God through our Worship and reveal God through our Witness.

Pastor Holland graduated from the Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa School of Ministry and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Behavioral Science from National University.  Pastor Holland has had the privilege of serving on the platforms of nationally recognized ministries such as Exodus International, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Family Life, Christian Musician Summits and the National Worship Leader Conference .  He continues to guest lecture and lead worship at conferences and universities such as Gateway Seminary, Life Pacific Bible College, Calvary Chapel Association Worship Conferences Biola University and Asuza Pacific University.  He is a published author with Bridge Logos.  He was awarded a gold album for the Top 25 Praise Songs and a Multi-platinum album for WOW Worship Blue featuring Let It Rise.  In 2007 he was awarded an ASCAP award for the Most Performed Songs of 2006 for Let It Rise which went to # 3 in the nation as recorded by Big Daddy Weave

Holland and his wife Roxie live in South Orange County, CA and have three grown adults and four grand children. To press on towards the high calling of knowing Jesus and to be faithful as a husband, father, pastor and friend will always be his greatest achievement!
