The only true basis we have for fellowship with one another is Jesus Christ.  When we have received the free gift of forgiveness from God, it empowers us to extend forgiveness to those who have offended us.  I recently heard the story of two rival gang members who used to shoot at each other from across the street.  One left the area and found Christ and became a pastor.  When he returned to the neighborhood, he ran into his old rival at Walmart.  There were tense moments at first, but then my pastor friend went up and started a conversation with the man.  He found out that his old rival received Christ as well and was a changed man.  They embraced and have stayed in touch ever since.  That is the power of forgiveness that comes through Jesus.  If God can heal a relationship that was based on a mutual desire to kill one another, God can heal your broken marriage, broken relationship with your parents or any other broken relationship through Jesus Christ.  Why not receive the free gift of forgiveness from God and watch God change your life?

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
