I’ve counseled many frustrated husbands and wives looking for ways to change their spouse or make them act more godly. I’ve listened to many sermons at retreats and conferences challenging men and women to live more holy. I’ve watched people respond to altar calls simply because they’ve been guilted into feeling bad about their inconsistencies and then come forward for the magic cure. But Paul gives us the down to earth practical way that every one of us can overcome the powerful emotions and lies that we hold on to that secretly motivate us… Paul simply says walk in the Spirit. That is the crux of living the overcoming life. It’s not focusing on what you want to stop. It’s focusing on what you want to do… to be Spirit led. It’s not overcoming your demons through moral support or sheer willpower. It’s being led and directed by the Holy Spirit. When you do, you will find yourself forgetting what was behind in order to press on to what’s ahead… JESUS. It’s effortless freedom. That’s the way of the Kingdom of God. Roxie and I love you!!!
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
