Grace For Today

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Proverbs 16:18-19

Pride is a silent killer of the heart. It leads you to do things that you know are wrong, but you believe you can get away with it. It leads you to speak unkindly of others or to present yourself in a superior way. It leads you to mislead others by embellishing facts to further your cause. It leads to selfish ambition, using people and stepping on or over others to get where you want to be. But the truth most of us don’t face about pride is that it’s a mask that covers deep rooted insecurity and unbelief. The tragic result of pride is it keeps us from giving and receiving genuine love. God doesn’t want you to be enslaved to pride. He wants you to be free to experience real love. It’s so freeing to know that you are loved and celebrated and that you don’t have to build yourself up or prove your acceptance by your accomplishments. You don’t have to prove your worth by your popularity, your bank account or your possessions. God has already determined that you are of inestimable worth by paying the ultimate price to purchase you for Himself. Don’t let pride take you down.
