Something that is hard for us to understand post fall is God does not operate in the realm of morals or ethics. Morals and ethics are the result of the fall of man and are extensions of our conscience. Conscience is that internal voice that gives expression to the knowledge of right and wrong. God only exists in the realm of righteousness. God is right. He is not struggling over issues of morality and ethics. What He says is right, what He does is right and what He commands us to do is right.

Now in our Western Thinking… we say the opposite of right is wrong. However in God’s world, the opposite of right is called wickedness. It is the same word we use for criminal behavior because it describes actions that are the opposite of what God says to do which is right. So God doesn’t think of what we do as wrong or right. He simply looks at what we do as knowingly or unknowingly doing what He says not to do… which is defined as criminal behavior. It’s not an issue of morality or ethics. It’s an issue of rightness or righteousness.

The good news is God knows that there is no one who is right, we are all guilty of wickedness. That’s why we have forgiveness through Jesus Christ. If you are in Christ, then you are right in the sight of God. You are no longer seen as wicked and your deeds are no longer seen as wickedness. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Praise the Lord. Walk in His righteousness and embrace who you truly are in Christ… forgiven and free!
