There is a movement among men to be themselves. What we need is to gather together and learn how to “be ourselves” and not be a bunch of phonies. The problem with this movement is it is still dependent on what a man thinks he is. So you have a bunch of guys thinking I’m a tattoo sporting tough guy and I want to surround myself with other tattoo sporting tough guys because that’s who I am. Here’s the truth. We don’t know who we are. Only Jesus says who we are and we only discover that when we come to Christ and see Him for who He is.
When we see the Lord, the veil is taken away from us and we behold Him. When we behold Him, we become like Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. Listen. I don’t want to hang out with a bunch of guys trying to discover themselves. I don’t want to hang out with a bunch of guys that just want to be themselves. That’s a waste of time. I want to hang out with a bunch of guys who want to discover who Jesus is. I want to hang out with a bunch of guys who want to discover what grace lived out looks like in real life. I want to hang out with a bunch of guys who want to be like Jesus. That’s worth discovering. I already known who I am… I’m a loser without Jesus. Nuff said.
2 Corinthians 3:16-18
16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
