There are two types of Christians in the world.  Those who see God as their back up plan and those who see God as their only plan.  If you see God as your back up plan, then He’s number 2 on your speed dial.  He’s number 2 in your life and He’s more of a necessary evil than a ever present help in times of trouble.  He becomes an inconvenience to your busy schedule.  He becomes the reason why you can’t sleep in on your only day off from work.  He becomes an interruption to your plans to sit down and watch your favorite television program instead of learning more about Him through His Word.  You will even put your family ahead of Him thinking He would understand because He wants you to value your family right?  But what you’re teaching your kids is God is number 2 in their lives just like He’s number 2 in your life.  That’s someone who sees God as their back up plan.  The one who sees God as their only plan… God is number 1 on their speed dial.  He’s not an interruption, He’s the reason I live.  He’s not an inconvenience, He’s a blessing to be with.  I want to worship and learn from Him because I can’t get enough of Him.  I make choices that put God first in my family because I want my kids to know God is number 1 in their lives and we will choose God over our own entertainment or pleasure.  Then we can say what David said… the Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my strength, the One I trust, my shield, my salvation, my stronghold!  Is He number 1 or number 2 to you?

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
