American’s pride themselves as being a society that is governed by law. The American justice system is so deeply rooted in the American soul that it even influences our views of God. Like the rich young ruler, we believe that our actions… good or bad… influence our eternal destiny. If we live a good life, we go to heaven. If we live a bad life, we go to hell. It’s just rewards for actions done. But the gospel doesn’t work that way. Salvation isn’t based on our good or bad behavior, but the perfect obedience of Jesus Christ and all who receive the righteousness of God by grace through faith are no longer seen as sinners, but righteous. It’s the divine exchange that happens at the cross. I exchange my sinful nature for the righteousness of God in Christ. Now I am no longer a sinner identified by my sin, but a righteous son and daughter of the King. I would encourage you to meditate on this verse. When you are tempted remind yourself, I am not a sinner. I am a new creation. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and watch God change your life!
Roxie and I love you!!!
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
